Homework basics important for academic success

Structure is Important – Research shows that a highly structured approach to homework helps children achieve superior performance in school and provides excellent academic benefits through academic life.

Creation of Good Study Habits – Human beings are very much creatures of habit. Developing good
study habits will make those college years much easier. A child may not have homework every night in elementary school, but establishing study time every night is important in the long run.

Set expectations for homework – Expect to hear a summary of what was learned during the study
time.  Ask some questions and see it they understood what they did.

Parent involvement is key – For children to realize their maximum potential, parental involvement is
paramount. Soon your child will realize how much you care and this will become a guiding principal for him/her.
